Clock bug?

Hello,

I have noticed some strange occurrences today with Live Chess through the iPad app.

For example, in one game (http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=1249674466) I made a move 1 straight away. My opponents move turned up more or less instantly. Then, more or less instantly, I was told I was out of time.

It was meant to be a 3/0 game, but the whole thing started and was over in about 5 seconds.

I had a similar experience earlier in the day, on a different internet connection, where I was docked 30 seconds on move 1. Again, this is more or less instantaneously after the game had started.

Is there a bug with the way that the server is accounting for lag?

Argh. Happened Again. Started a game. 2 seconds later, my clock is down from 3:00 to 0:13. Where is the time going? This is on the iPad app.

Edit: This is second game in question (http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=1249836151). Literally, between pushing the seek button for a pairing, 3 seconds passes, but I lose 2:45 seconds on the clock.

Even if there is heavy lag, there shouldn't be a jump of 2:45 after only a few seconds of having pushed the seek button!

This is pretty frustrating. I've been a long time paying member, and this is making a major feature of the site completely unuseable.

I tried playing on my laptop, and it was completely fine. I have pinged the Google DNS, and I get a decent response (26ms). Pinging chess.com gives 120 ms. These numbers are quite consistent.

But there are still massive jumps in the clock on the iPad app when I use my iPad. Another case, I open the game with 1 move, they opponent replies instantly, then I'm instantly told I'm out of time. In the matter of about 2 seconds. Here's the game (http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=1250235211).

I've tried with my iPad app on two separate wireless networks in different towns, and had the same problem.

today I am feeling the same problem with my android app. opponent time kept increasing from 4 sec to 5 or 8 sec and my time became 0 when I was ahead of opponent by nealy 30 sec in bliz game. I played same opponent thrice today and each time I lost because timer was giving false impression to me. I was not sure how opponent time got hold to 4 sec and was not becoming 0 instead it was increasing whereas my time kept decreasing to 0.

You may have violated the space-time continuum.  This could have serious consequences for the entire universe.

We're looking in to this right now! Force-quitting the app and restarting it seems to be helpful, in the meantime. Sorry for your trouble — and thanks for the report!

Thanks for the acknowledgement. I know that these bugs can be tricky to replicate and fix, but I appreciate your communication.

Did that fix for you? I'm having a similar problem here.
