Disconnecting

I hate when people disconnect. They should just resign or play it out. my opponent did it to me today as soon as they lost their queen. Its one thing if it happens because of connection problems. But otherwise, my opponent should of resigned or played it out.

I don't know how do they disconnect... But they do disconnect and after I send them my move they connect back and then they disconnect again waiting for my next move....

They don't disconnect purposely man. It just happens sometimes. You can't control it.

Unless they get out of live chess

Ok, so this is the second thread you spawned recently naming a suspected disconnector.  You know it's inappropriate to name and shame, right?

Did these players taunt you in chat, or something? Otherwise how do you know they disconnected intentionally?

If they've been disconnected by the server or some other internet glitch and they can't get reconnected, how would they be able to resign or play it out?

Please explain.

[Name Removed] did it to me to. And yes, public shame is one way to stop them. Or they can come on the sight and say it was an accident. But I dont see that. So they must of done it because they feared they would lose. If you are shamed in public than people will know and be aware.

Is it such a crime disconnecting from a game when you are losing anyway? I confess I have done it some times, but players have done it to me too, but what's the big deal, I still earn points for him abandoning!!

And you don't even have to wait that much, I think the system awaits about 1 minute (correct me if I am wrong) and then declares you the winner.

Let's not forget that standing up, shaking hands with your opponent and leaving the table IS something that DOES happen in real life chess too!

You have to be more patient, that's all. Chess does help one become more patient though ;)

Peace, love.

how does "publicly shaming" the alleged intentional dis-connector do anything?  Do people log into live chess and cross-reference the list of potential opponents with a list of alleged intentional dis-connectors?  Of course not.  Let it go.  If he does intentionally disconnect, and goes out and picks flowers and forgets the game, and your still fuming and posting threads about it, he clearly won something if not the game.

If they disconnect, they lose the game anyway. It isn't a big deal.

I also suggest not to make random insults during games. It's the lowest of the lows.

I notice you're from Chicago. I guess your behavior shouldn't be all that surprising.

I agree that it is a bit disturbing when one disconnects, but, the time runs down on them and you have to just understand that you have done something to throw them into reacting in that manner.. :-) they are so many personalities in this world, it is to be expected..

we're working on a solution to this. disconnectors will very negatively rewarded :)

Occasionally when I'm clearly winning position, suddenly disconnected, and my opponents time runs out. I'm still lost the game! This is not funny. I wonder if this is fair play. Frown

It's wrong because it forces me to sit there and wait. If he would just be a gentleman, he could hit 'resign' and we can both go our separate ways. The 'resign' button is how you stand up and shake hands. Just disconnecting is like slipping under the table in a real game and crawling away.

My question is simple.  Is it possible to cheat here? I have experienced that if my higher rated contender  is going to  loose  just disappears, and the screen is blurred.  It is ok if it is in his move, than i wait till the clock runs out, but if it is in my time, i loose the game.  Has anyone else experienced the same as me.
