No, you don't deserve to be sworn at.
But IMO, you should also not dismiss a 950 without some investigation. Maybe he is at your level, and he's had only 1 game, and lost to a 1700? He too wants to play someone his own strength, but no-one wants to give him a game.. Maybe just frustration on his part.
I was playing live chess just the other minute, and put out an open seek. This guy joined but he was around a 950 rating(i hover around 1400), so i aborted and created a new game.
Then he rejoined, i aborted again and he rejoined. Then i said: "sry id rather play someone over 1000", then aborted again. Two minutes later i get a hate message from him.
He essentially called me a chicken(colorful language included). So i decided to put my money where my mouth was and looked for him. I stared at the seek board looking for his name for about 5 minutes, couldn't find it. The only way i could immediately track him is if i added him to my friends list right?!(thats not gunna happen!lol) So until i find a way to challenge and beat him in live chess i guess i have no honour or courage....there must be a way.
Who thinks what i said and did was rude?
Is it my right to play ppl around my ranking? Or is aborting somebody 500 points lower than you a sign of cowardice? And i must accept everybody and devote potentially 20 minutes to anyone.
I just like good chess, if i wanted to get my arse handed to me id just play a computer engine.(id have a better chance at beating fischer or morphy, amazing when you think about it.) And if all i wanted to do was win id play 'Microsoft chess titans' on level 1, wow wouldn't that feel special!!
All i want to do is have a good game with a evenly skilled opponent. Is that such a bad thing? Do i deserve to be sworn at because of it? Or do i give off the vibe that im scared of losing to a low ranked player?
