ziryab: it seems like you know nothing about the political situation about topalov and danailov (perhaps except from the news). i can tell you this much: danailov is basically topalov's boss until the contract ended not the other way around. the contract was like fixed 30 years.

I watched the events unfold as they happened. I read the official correspondence that was released by FIDE. I watched interviews of the participants.

Through it all, Kramnik maintained his dignity and stood for his rights while he was unjustly accused. Prior to this sham, I respected Topalov. He lost my respect, as he did the respect of millions of chess fans across the globe.

Most people would alter the cause of events that cause them to lose  respect and esteem. Bad legal advice; get a new lawyer. Investments that lose wealth; get a new broker. Losing credibility as a sportsman; fire the coach, manager, etc.

You claim to know something that's not in the widely publicized stories. Prove that you are not blowing smoke up my lower orifice; offer a credible source for your claim.

What is the story guys ?

rigamagician

Seb - In 2006, Vladimir Kramnik and Veselin Topalov played a match for the world championship.  Kramnik won the first two games of the match, and then they drew games 3 and 4.  Silvio Danailov was serving as Topalov's manager, and after the fourth game, he filed a complaint that Kramnik was visiting the washroom too often during the games, implying that he might be cheating somehow.  He suggested that the players be restricted to one common bathroom.  The arbiters agreed at first, and then when the fifth game started, Kramnik didn't show up.  The win was awarded to Topalov by default.  FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov eventually ruled that Topalov could keep this win, but Kramnik could have access to his own washroom, and the match resumed.  The incident is known as 'Toiletgate.'

I got 1390. Interesting how that is significantly higher than my chess.com rating.

Funny because I got that same thing. I did it again and I tried a queen sacrifice and got 1350. It sucks that they won't let you do a combination. I wish they'd also tell you what your strengths and weaknesses are.

SebLeb0210

danailov is topalov's boss for 20 years in the contract. topalov had no choice cuz he was a poor kid at that time. to danailov, topalov is just a gold mine; to invest money and get more out of it. danailov gets 80% of the winnings (prize money) and its a locked contract. i'm not here to prove myself right but- seriously reading the news is gonna get you like 30% of the truth. knowing the important guys gets you 80%.

i can already imagine your counter-where's your credible source of proof? well if its important, i won't even mention it. proving myself right doesn't gain me any money nor will you believe me...soo...

Kevin Spraggett, who is less circumspect concerning his sources, says that Danailov gets 50%. In any case, the disrepute into which he brought Topalov should have been cause enough, if Topalov had strong ethics concerning sportmanship, to sever the relationship.

I got 1700 or something a few weeks ago. Too bad it's wrong. I have a gap of 300 from my chess.com to that. Why? Timing out.

I don't really understand why Topalov is looked down at so much because of this incident. All he wanted was a common bathroom. At least he didn't try to make them reset the scores, or convince FIDE that he should be disqualified. I can't imagine how Kramnik was cheating either. I think both people were being immature in this case, because Kramnik forfeited a game just because he wanted his own bathroom. Topalov was also being immature for accusing Kramnik of cheating. But I agree with Topalov that in a match like that, a common bathroom is better. But, he could have sugessted that in all matches, they share a bathroom without accusing Kramnik of cheating, but It was just one incident, so why is this such a big deal? I do agree with the fact that he should get rid of his manager. It's unfortunate that he can't because of his 20 year contract with him.

well thats probably because your chess.com rating is about to boost 300 points.

FrenchTutor

This is the rough equivalent of horoscopes - completely arbitrary information based off of absolutely nothing.  The only reason anyone cares is because they get an ego boost when the stupid thing tells them that they're 300 points higher than their actual rating (which seems to be the result in the vast majority of cases).

SebLeb0210

Ofcourse not !

locked contracts cannot be broken. there should be some bond between the guys after 20 years. they work as a team and decide how to say things. i'm guessing here-i think that topalov and danailov agreed to make the move. it worked quite well; a losing topalov made it 6-6.

regarding the percentages, 80% seems much more logical if you were thinking from danailov's shoes from an investment point of view. (gaining maximum money while leaving topalov with just enough). i didn't read what kevin spraggett  wrote(nor do i know who he is).

I'm certain that a good attorney could demonstrate that Danailov's behavior violated the terms of the contract.

That you don't know Kevin Spraggett is a sure indication of the strength of your much vaunted connections. You obviously know a great deal about the world of chess at the top levels.
