So it's not just me :P. I'll switch away from wifi see if that makes a difference (although I do love playing blitz while I'm on the john).
And for the record, I'm from England... but I'm living in Seattle, so I'm probably a good deal closer to LA than most of the chess.com members :).
A few things were bugging me about live chess, I was just wondering if they happen to everyone or just me.
1: There seems to be a 1-2 second lag between when I "hear" a move has been played, and when it shows up on my screen. Not a big deal on slow time controls, but absolute death for me in 2 minute bullet games.
2: As a corrollary to 1, I'm often not sure if I've made my move or not because the pieces don't move right away. I waited once to see them move, but having lost a good 15 seconds of a 2 minute game doing so, I don't think that's wise. I tried re-clicking everything a bunch of times, but when I did that I started accidentally loading up pre-moves where I'd move a piece, and then move it immediately back!
3: Speaking of pre-moves, is there a way to cancel them? I don't mean turn them off (it seems like suicide to play fast games without them, espescially given the lag issues from 1). I mean suppose I pre-move Qd2, and before I make that move I realize Qd4 would be better. Is there a way to undo the Qd2 premove and play Qd4 instead?
4: Possibly related to the first two points, but an annoyingly large number of my games had to re-establish a connection to the server. Again, in blitz having the entire board disappear from in front of your face, reappear, and then have time bleed off your clock while this is happening is devastating!
If these problems are only happening to me, does anyone know how to fix them? (I am using a bit of a slow computer, but I've got a very reliable and rather fast 'net connection [download speeds in excess of 500kb/s] so I don't think that's the problem). If they're not just happening to me I still think live-chess is a great feature, I'll just have to not use it for bullet games :D.
