gg is arrogance

Haha WOW. I'm sorry I just discovered this topic and couldn't post earlier.

I think it's fairly simple, "gg" means "good game", which is a perfectly normal and polite thing to say.

However, when some people lose, it's understandable that adrenaline from the game that was just played out to a loss gets them frustrated, not only with their opponent but perhaps with themselves. So, "gg" in their eyes morphs from a polite phrase to "arrogance", or whatever other nonsense people are claiming it to be on these forums. But in the end, you can't let your emotions control you and your perceptions to the point where you would make some obnoxious thread about it.

So just calm down. It's no big deal, and it's not unusual or impolite.

why does it matter how you do an analogy. an analoy is an analogy

Hey trysts, have you ever heard Steelworker by Big Black?  I listened to it for the first time in ages yesterday, and its content reminded me of some of your battles here Wink

hey, im just sayin. ppl just we're understanding what i was talking about so...

With all due respect, you're taking the opposite meaning from what is, in fact, a polite gesture. The message "gg" means "good game," clear and simple. It's like a handshake; an act of civility. Coming from the victor, it may mean "good game" in the sense of "you played well," or in the sense of "I enjoyed playing" (even a mismatched game can be pleasurable to win). Either way, it's just good manners.

I say "good game" or "gg" after every game. Its just a little thing I was taught as a kid, called courtesy. Maybe I should spell it out... c-o-u-r-t-e-s-y.

this has nothing to do with 'handling a loss'. this is about communication between too people. i find it hard to comprehend how people can not only misunderstand the general topic, but falsly assert presumtions about me. its exactly the kind of neglection your giving someone when you say gg. dont bother to say anything else, and just say good game like you'r some kind of robot. annoyance doesnt come from losing, its from complete arrogance from ppl.

How do you know I'm not a robot Mr. Personality?  gg

exactly. imagine your in an otb game and you both just sat there the entire game. nobody once spoke word. he won. he says 'good game'. he walks away. 'yep he was right that was a gg'. *gets up*. *walks away*. you both have such amazing social skills. im just sayin

You're simultaneously criticizing the social skills of two imaginary people and trying to argue that making a civilized gesture is arrogant and should be shunned?

Go to 'Recent Activity' on your home page. Click on 'Manage Content.' Click the edit button next to the title 'gg means owned.' Change the title. Have a nice day.

Laughing My battles?! That's hilarious! I have heard Big Black, I believe. I think they did "Songs about F*cking", didn't they? But I don't know if I've heard "Steelworker", theoreticalboy.

Only people from Glee say omg. I think you and your 'omg' needs to be addressed in a forum.

They did, an album I never liked all that much.  Steelworker is on The Hammer Party, which I adore.  See, the repeated refrain is: "I'm a, I'm a steelworker, I kill what I eat..."
