I tell my 12 yr old daughter that if she doesn't like someone beating the krap outta her in any game then she can do one thing to stop it...GET BETTER!!!!

Imo it depends entirely on the context it's used. For example if you're crushing someone then make an epic blunder (like leaving the queen in prise) and you're forced to resign. If they say gg after I would take that as a slap in the face. However if the game is evenly contested and has a lot of cool combinations, if they say gg that I would take at its word.

how crazy. don't take it wrong ........ that is just wrong LOL you people are not psychic. no one is typing "gg" to be rude ....... if they wanted they would say "in your face loser" and not "gg"
seriously, I can't believe how many people agree that "gg is arrogance" wow it has has gone past funny to scary.
I'm thinking now of just typing good game before the game starts and that way if i win or lose my opponent may not get all touchy about a comment I make when we're finished.
(now if only I won enough -at chess- for this to be a big problem for me)

Hey...has anyone been keeping a list of the people who agree with the original poster? Seriously. I would like to add them to my blocked list but there's no way I'm gonna read this whole thread. When I type "gg", it means "good game!". When the game isn't good I either say nothing, or sorry if it was me who made it a bad game. I type the abbreviated version in an effort to get it in before my opponent moves on to another game. Anyone who can't handle this should feel free to add me to their blocked list.
