In all fairness, persisting to misinterpret what 99,984 % of the gaming communities of the world consider to be a friendly comment regardless of win or loss is a much stronger candidate to being beyond hope ;) It's a simple polite handshake, "thanks for the game", in an otherwise very anonymous gaming environment, especially when played on the phone where the chat is a tucked away tiny icon and easily missed.

Trust me, as an online gamer for many, many years, if you were to make a statement of "gg" being offensive in any other gaming community, people would just shake their heads. This is where people's general interpretation of online communication originates, same as with all caps meaning yelling, lol, afk, smileys etc. You can't just from a corner of the world decide that these things mean something completely different just because you happen to interpret them that way. In the rare occasion that someone were to actually mean to offend, as such it still fails as most people would simply consider it to be a friendly comment (which is what I meant with "who cares").

Also, if this is so offensive to you, why not just simply ask whenever anyone is saying "gg" to you what they mean? I would bet good money on how many times you would be surprised at their friendly intentions, given that it was asked equally friendly of course.

After checking out the links first supplied by fyy0r it is clear that you have no idea what your talking about.

 Common sense after all.........

I think we have to get over all these interpretations and complaints about arrogance. I've found that almost anything can be interpreted as arrogance, depending on your personality. For example, someone could even interpret this post as arrogant, because I'm pretending to know what I'm talking about. Coaches can be considered arrogant, as it makes them feel like a very strong player. And here, saying you did a good job pisses people off when they don't think they did a good job. I know that feeling where I play badly, my opponent acts graciously, tells me I played well, and I'm just thinking "Oh, please. Don't even try." These days, though, I'm a better loser Smile

Whether you think someone is being arrogant or not, just forget it. You don't have to like that person. I just don't let it bother me anymore. I accept that people can think of themselves as good as they want to, and if it's unjustified, then I don't have to take it seriously. Don't let arrogance ruin your day; let the arrogants live and choke in their dream.

I wish they had some Chicago style pizzas down here in Florida.  F- the New Jersey see-through pizzas.  If you have to fold it in half to eat it because it lacks any integrity, than it is not pizza.

More common sense--What is the world coming to--and to think that just mentioning what a hell hole Chicago is--brought people to make sense????

Chicgao-style is all sauce and (usually terrible) crust, though.  I dunno, if the sauce was good rather than some boring pizza marinara, I could see it being something, but everything I've had has been distinctly underwhelming.  Actually, my favourite pizza place in the city does thin crust, and does it superbly.

Nevertheless, "thanks for the game" is probably better than "good game," since thanking is always polite (although some sensitives will insist the "thanks" is sarcastic or something), whereas some people take offense if the game was clearly not close. I think gg is most likely used so much because it's so short; maybe there should be a "tg" abbreviation for the former.

You have to keep arrogance from annoying you. Nobody likes arrogance, but don't let it ruin your day.

 t4g ????

In Michigan, there is a Dominos that still has a brick oven.  That place has the best deep dish pizzas of any place I have ever been.

Down here there is an emphasis on less sauce (if any), super thin crust, and lots of cheese.

It's too bad the general populace has to keep arguing about whether and how to say frigging "thank you."  Good god man!  Is it that difficult?
