How can I challenge a friend to play live chess?

In Live Chess, you can see your friends on the "Friends" tab.  (They have to be in live chess at the same time as you for you to see and challenge them there.)

On the Friends tab, you can click "Play" on the Actions menu to challenge them (if it says "Watch" instead of "Play" it means they are already playing a game, which you can observe).

You can also click on the friend's name - both on the tab and in chatrooms - to get a menu that includes "Challenge."

If you don't see the Friend tab in live chess;

If you can use the gear wheel icon (looks like a flower head) next to the chat tab then click on tabs. Then check the box you to show on your tabs in here, like games / players / all games / friends  etc. Its your choice which ones to check, which ones you want to see on your tabs.

 (remember to save changes on the box below it and they will always show when you log in.

what if I challenge a friend on live chess but the challenge dosen't appear to him nor me, what is wrong?

He needs to check his settings in live chess to see if he has them set to only accept challenges from a certain rating and to make sure he has his 'accept challenges' turned on

Both of us did that and it still didn't come through..... we ended up playing on chessapp.com

are you on eachothers friends list? and both in live chess at the same time?

Yes we are both on eachothers friends list and we both checked out settings to accept challenges from everyone, both online at the same time over the phone trying to figure out whats going on. His account is petrus1988. I can challenge others on my friends list, and he can play online blitz's... our accounts don't like eachother?

Your Site isnt User Friendly just to challenge em for live chess

Simplify the Challenge tab pls, and Waiting Challenge tab.

Wow, the challenge tab simply does not work for live chess.  If someone claims it does, they need to make a tutorial on how it is supposed to work.

My brother and I were both online, and even tried through FB.  All we could do is play a long, non-live game.

a recent opponent challenged me to all different time control live games. i tried to do the same but was only allowed to challenge him to a online game.

Go to live chess, alerts tab.

Into the text box type /challenge 'playername' 'minutes' 'seconds'

With their username and time control
