Kicked out of game

I was in the middle of a quite intense game last night. 30 min rapid. One of those times where all energy was going to thinking. Suddenly after move 29 the game screen closed with no warning, and I was back at the start a new game screen. Later I found that it said I lost due to abandoning the game, but there was no way for me to get back in. The app stayed open the whole time and my internet didnt drop because I was streaming some music and it didn't interrupt.
Has anyone had this happen, and is there some way I could have gone back into the game? This was on the Android app btw.
Even more bitter to find I was in a stronger position against a higher rated opponent.

It was streaming from YT. Also I seemed to have the ability to start a new game, but no way to go back into this one.
