I thought it was pretty obvious (as well as stated multiple times) that leeching causes an increased matching time.

Back in my day, you would get a game on chess.com immediately, every single time, 24/7.

Nowadays, while this is still mostly true, I sometimes have to wait upwards of 5 minutes to get matched for a 5 minute game. As leeching becomes more widespread and encouraged by the community, this will only get worse.

You're talking as if you have been here for years Moshj.

But your profile gives membership date of early 2014?

Multiple a/c's are supposedly against chess.com rules.

I deleted my previous account.

What was your previous id then?

Why would I be trolling? You are complaining about the way the game seek system works. I don't understand why you believe higher rated players are "good samaritans" and lower rated players are a "disgusting waste product". Maybe you shouldn't worry about what other players are doing and just play your game. If you're having a problem beating these lower level players maybe your rating is inflated.

I don't have time for butthurt-fueled drivel.

I hope you realize how insecure that makes you sound.

Sorry, I don't see how that makes me sound insecure. I think the word you were looking for is "douchebag", which was intended.

Oh I see, you think I have a superiority complex and a big ego associated with the game, like JGambit. Well, I don't. If you had actually read through the thread you would realize that.

Mosai seems to think that the reason why he/she sometimes has to wait FIVE MINUTES for a live game is that people are "leeching" (only playing higher rated opponents). This makes no sense.

If, for instance, every player on Live had their rating range set to -0/+200 then mosai would get a game instantly if she/he had a rating range -200/+200.

Mosai, if you're having trouble getting a game on live, there are a many possible reasons for this that don't require inventing a whole new problem:

1. There might not be many players online.

2. The players who are online might be in games.

3. There might not be many players of a matching rating.

4. There might be issues with the matching software. I don't know how the matching works, do you?

5. A combination of any of the above.

Avatar of mosai

1. "There are currently 11944 players online!"

2. if the waiting time is 5 minutes, then 1/3 of them shouldn't.

3. Really now, I'm 1400.

4. It's a seek thing. When you make a new seek, chess.com looks through all existing unmatched seek to try to match you, and otherwise add you to the seek list. Should be immediate if I have a matching opponent.

5. See above. My rating range is +-200 btw.

Avatar of AcidBadger

I was just suggesting possible reasons for a long wait. In my opinion #4, issues with the matching software, is the most probable. Another factor is the number of people not looking for games, those spectating the highest rated games or who just have chess.com open while doing other things.

I honestly don't know why getting a game takes you a long time, but I don't really understand how this can be related to these "leechers" you mention.
