the good news is that even free members will be able to play in a few tournaments a week. diamond members will have unlimited access to tournaments, and other premium members will have ample tournaments as well (though not unlimited).

We, (Sousuke511, Chesskidprodigy, HULK, and me) Organized are own little live chess quad! HULK won. As we wait for live tourneys, I will be organizing live chess quads!
What is the estimated time length/availability expectation for those who enter?

By the way: how would we join these tournaments? Would we join directly through Live Chess (on the day of the tournament?) or from these correspondence pages?

That's good news Erik. However I wonder if the often mentioned and yet unresolved problem of screen refreshes after every move on ipads/iphones/itouchs will make this feature unusable for apple mobile ios users?
If it appears that I'm being a noodge or cranky about this is because i'm cranky and feeling like "noodging" you on this annoyingly persistent problem.
A case of poly noodging? :)
I'm sure with time all these tweaks and twacks should be resolved.

Poly - on this issue you should be bugging apple, not us :( for some unknown reason he safari browser on iPad isn't normal. We cant control what it is doing. But that's why we built a native app for live chess.
Erik, I have no idea what I would say to apple. Tell me and I will, although I can imagine that would act w more urgency than you might. In the mean time how about making a native app, as you say, that deals with this? Or do you know f there is some other iOS browser that doesn't have this problem?

i just played my first live chess tournament (on our test servers).
we're missing some functionality, and lots to polish off, but we're close!
i expect our first tournament by Oct 15th.
