live chess won't load

For about a month now (or maybe longer?) I've been unable to play live chess.... it just goes into a permanent loading mode and never gets there.  It seemed for a while that others were having this problem too, but I don't see any recent posts.  Is there a fix for it?

Thanks!

KylePratt

I've been having the same problem as well, although it only started yesterday for me. I really hope there is a fix for this problem because I don't want to miss any Slow chess league games because of it.

I also have this problem on occasion. Today, for instance.

What browser do you all use?  On which Operating System?

If you try a different browser, does it do the same thing?

Depending on which browser you're using, please clear the cache. If you're not using Google Chrome, please try it as it's the best performing browser for Chess.com.

Here are the Chrome instructions:

http://screencast.com/t/mjUqWdBo

In the browser bar, enter: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData

1.     Select the items you want to clear:

·    Cached Images and files

·    Cookies and other site and plug-in data

2.     Choose the period of time for which you want to clear cached information.

·    To clear your entire cache, select:  the beginning of time.

3.     Click "Clear Browsing Data".

Blackenne I did that and it's still not working.

Kyle, uninstall Chrome completely and reinstall:

I'm using the latest Firefox (on Windows 8).... there must be thousands of chess.com users using the same!  And clearing the cache didn't help.  Any further suggestions?

LadyWolf

Tallis, what happens you try another browser?

Tallis

Thanks for the reply.  I just tried Internet Explorer and it worked fine, so it seems to be Firefox-specific.

But, Firefox being quite a popular browser these days, it still seems that Chess.com would wish to fix the issue.

KylePratt

Okay I just uninstalled Chrome and then reinstalled it, and I'm still having the same problem, oh and I also tried Explorer too and still no luck, and I know it's not my internet connection because I can access every other part of this site with absolutely no problem at all.

Just following up on this -- any further suggestions for us Firefox users?

Thanks!

I'm now using firefox myself and I'm no longer experiencing problems with loading up live chess, although I think getting rid of a few programs may have helped a bit too.

LadyWolf

Kyle, what programs did you get rid of?

On that note, anyone with issues, check your add-ons/extensions.  Disable them all and then try Live Chess again.

KylePratt

Mostly useless stuff, like apps and extensions that I don't use.

I have found that (if the page does not load) pressing the "back"button on my browser  , then the "forward "button  is effective.

I cannot say why this should be.

I have tried each and every trick specified here... from re-installing my chrome to that forward and backward button but sadly I am just not able to play :(

I tried Mozilla Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer but the problem is same it goes for forever loading mode. I request you to please fix this.

I love playing here and I don't wanna leave just because the game doesn't load. And I am able to play live games but not online games.

Hoping for your prompt reply.
