VERY GOOD SPORT....TO BOAST ABOUT IT IS BETTER YET
Message To People Who Disable Chat

I once had an opponent disable chat after I told him he really sucked.
Yeah Bobba Russki, telling the truth sometimes hurts, so he run away.
Btw. you really need new glasses

I should have the option to disable chat if I want to without being considered rude. I know there is some misuse as sited above, but it seems like every time I try to concentrate there is either someone trying to make small talk, which in itself is not bad, but it distracts me. But the small talk pales in comparison to the angry, rude, and yes lewd remarks made in chat. I often don't see them at first because I am concentrating on the game, but when I finally read them I am shocked and lose my train of thought. Do people in OTB tournaments jabber during a game? I for one am glad this option is available. Don't feel guilty using it.

I hardly even notice people chatting to me I focus on the board and also go to focus mode and you won't even see conversations.
What someone writes in any sort of chat to a stranger has many connotations. I disable chat permanently because I dont care for you what you have to say. Be it calling me a nigger, a retard, or saying good game.

Live fast games are worse than daily or slow live. The last 'chat' I received in blitz was someone informing me in Georgian that they had f****d my mother. Of course I had just won the game. I translated in case he had said well played etc and I should respond in kind, but no such luck lol.

Dear live chess user that disabled that on me,
I am sorry that me trying to have manners by saying "good game" upset you. But there are some people on this site who try to be nice and make friends. Normally after a chess you good game, it is the right thing to do. Instead you go ahead and disable the chat right after I said it. Very nice manners. The least you could was say good game back or just accept my rematch without having to disable the chat.
What does it matter if he disabled chat, or didn't say good game?
LOL........golly....
It's his business.
Just because you say good game, does not obligate the opponent to say it back.
And just because you challenge someone to a game does not obligate the opponent to accept it.
Just accept the rules here on chess.com and learn to live with them without getting so butt hurt.
Now go play some chess, mommy will call you when it's time for dinner.

Years ago, players just shaked hand, rarely adding anything aloud. Then I left chess 7 years long.
When I came back, I faced, what seemed to me, a high number of opponents telling me an embarrassing "good game" by handshake. Why embarrassing? Well, that's maybe just me, but when I start an official chess game, I wish (in secret) my opponent to have an HORRIBLE chess game full of nasty blunders, and that he or she loses in mere agony, and possibly get disqualified for spreading blood over, the referee's white shirt!
Of course, I do exaggerate. but you get the idea. It's embarrasing, because it seems to me it lets me with only the choice between being silent (and rude?) or hypocrite, or possibly shooting myself in the foot, in case my wish for them to have a good game get granted, and I lose for it...
I always chat with my opponents after the game, and ALWAYS wish them a good continuation... Because I need them to get good results AFTER that game we played, in order to improve my Bucholz!!

I think it is more rude to assume that your opponent owes you an enabled chat. Let everyone play however they want, and, as long as they do not violate rules or cheat, everything is a fair play.
they should not be able to stop me from typing! they should be able to not type if they don't want to and not read my text if they don't want to. BUT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO TYPE WHENEVER I WANT TO! I do understand its an international game but free speech is something everyone can get behind. I loose most games when the chat is disabled because this frustrates the F@$! out of me and when u play 3/2 u don't have time to be frustrated

If you want to write, become a writer.
If you want to chat then gossip with the person next door.
If you want to play chess, then.......in any case do you have something fantastically interesting to say? In that case become an after dinner speaker and make loads of money.

But you understand that doing anything to annoy or distract your opponent is against the rules and I am sure that you do not mean to violate the rule. Right?
You do understand that there are people who go beyond "good game" and that "trash talk" is honored in certain circles?
I get more bothered when someone uses the block option to silence disagreement in a forum post. That is a lot more childish. I understand that similar opportunities exist in the forum for trash talk and thread derailment and that the ability to use block reduces the admin burden for chess.com. Still, I hate when there is a civil disagreement and the thread owner is able to post "last words" without having to indicate that any blocking has taken place.

I know that some people can be really mean and offensive on chess.com live chess chat, but there are a handful of nice, normal people who try to communicate with other chess players around the world. The least you people could do is give people a chance. Then, if they start to annoy you, block them, disable chat or whatever you want to do. A lot of people on chess.com are the nice type who just want to have a good conversation about the game, or, mostly, just be nice and say gl or gg like in a real game of chess.
It just annoys me when you people disable the chat the second the game loads so I can't even say good luck. At least half the people I play have done this and today I thought I would say something after I had chat disabled on my game right after I said "good game" and offered a rematch.
Saying "good game" is not ignorant, it is not meant to be offensive, and it is not a way to say "Ha! You suck! I beat you!" Saying good game is proper in any situation when you play a game of chess. I really hope you do say good game or at least shake hands in a real game of OTB chess.
I know it is online chess, but come on people. Just give people a chance. Half the time they don't even talk to you in the first place. If they start to abuse you block them and report them. It's that easy!
Sorry about the rant but I want to get my point across that it is rather rude to disable the chat.
With regards,
~Matthew
P.S. good game to everyone that I have played and will play. I wish you good luck in your games.
Long Ancient Post!!

I once had an opponent disable chat after I told him he really sucked. I guess that's an appropriate use of the disable chat feature.
