I am new to the site and just signed up for the Diamond status. Is 3D chess available with online games or only Live?

Its available for online chess too :) 

Go to your settings here> http://www.chess.com/home/echess_settings

and you'll see the option titled "Real 3D".

 How to set 3d chess ?

Go to board settings and click pieces and choose real 3D.
