pay live -chess
bad idea. Rudeness and abusiveness shouldn't stop people from playing chess. Only a minority of overly sensitive people are offended by it and I think most of us don't give a crap and just want to play a free game. Also people will just go and play on tchiyess keyoob.
But at least you are offering a suggestion with the intent to a change for the better.
Because those who pay for memberships shouldn't have to pay more?! true
I don't know what the stats are, but you'd be cutting about 80% of people there, so it would then be harder to get a game. And what about all those kids who are decent folk, don't abuse the system or people in it... why knock them off the site??
I'd love to see live chess members show some more respect and common sense me too, but I don't think slugging everyone for the privilege is the answer.
Moderation and timed / permanent banning is a better solution, as is a reputation system. that is some solution but what happen when the member number is increasing
Only problem there is anyone can just close their account and open a new one to wipe the slate clean and start abusing again. Got to find a way to stop that before it get out of hand.
Anonymity is the real problem. The internet should NOT be an anonymous thing. If it weren't and abusers could be "marked" for life with zero chance of just creating more accounts, then you'd find a quite well behaved internet experience. Agreed
have you got a better idea how to keep the live-chess clean ?
Maybe have a seperate playing area, something like a "rude zone", where you are required to act like a jerk when you play. So when if you're rude in the "nice zone", you can still play live chess for free, but you are kicked to the "rude zone" with all the other crazies. Fun for the kids!

that sound like kindergarten
1. I think that right now more users are needed to play live chess. You don't want to put a seek and wait 30 mins, right?
2. From my experience here, the live chess is surprisingly clean. Only 2-3 nasty words at the end of a game, but I had hundreds of opponents.
kco, maybe you and Windows7 could get together to discuss this idea, and spend a few nights while you are at it.
Also, you don't play in Live Chess at all, unless you have double accounts.
yeah get off the grass Atos. haven't you got better thing to do than posting negative comments ? why don't you and easymoney get together and.......

F#%$! This is the last time I ever read these idiotic forums!
I am not a premium member, but I also don't play Live chess here. So I hope you will see my opinion as neutral and racional.
Live chess needs the non-premium:
* Non-premium are the large majority here. Live chess games avaiable would be extremly reduced if they are forbiden to play, so finding a Live game wouldn't be so easy for Premiums.
* When shoe shopping, people are allowed to test a variety of shoes and yet leave the store without buying any. The stores let them do it because they know few people buy stuff without testing. I guess most Premium members started as non-premium and to forbid non-premium to play live would probably decrease the new Premium memberships.
* Part of Chess.com's money come from ads. Those ads are here because of the sites popularity, expressed by millions of members and thousands of live chess games going one constantly. To forbid non-premium live chess would decrease that numbers and presumably lose advertisers.
Hope you see this is not a good idea.
Yes you got that right, why not pay for live-chess for all level of memberships ? I was thinking this might cut down the rudeness/abuse in there. We don't want it become like the yahoochess do we ? (To the mods/staff if you are gonna delete this thread please let me know and tell me why. Like last time you did it to one of my thread called "chess.com = yahoochess?" ) I am talking about the live-chess here in chess.com. So anyone is rude or abuse the live-chess they will have both account close.
