speed chess and bullet games tend to bring out the worst in people.this doesn't justify trash talking to opponent of course....but even normally nice people can be tempted to do this out of frustration/heat of the moment.I too have on occassion posted some bad notes to people when I should've restrained myself (I have chat disabled on live chess to avoid trash talkers of course).
it's interesting to note that this rarely happens on CC chess.

I wouldn't enjoy a speed game where there was no trash taking. I lost 15 seconds to a guy who said, "So you wanna be a masta? A pokemon masta?"

if you fall for it, you've only yourself to blame
If they're really nasty, I just leave after the game is over...
But trash talking is fun because in my mind if you just play it cool it throws them off because they're expecting to get a rise out of you.
Pissing someone off to the point of insults makes me happy.
Just makes it that much better when you own them.
Why don't you disable chat? NO talking OTB anyway in a face to face game.
I'ts unacceptable (trash-talking) because whilst humorous to some the site is International & offence can be major. Disable-chat/report/ban then on with the chess is best course of action !
