But in chess.com player leave the game once they think they losing

#6 wait, you resign down 3 points of material? In the middle game?!?!

I understand resigning in a lost endgame, but sometimes it’s actually drawn because of stalemate. If I do not have enough material to checkmate, and out just a matter of my opponent reading my last piece, I might resign, but there is always hope for a draw.

Just because you're losing it doesn't mean you've lost. I've forced a draw by stalemate and repetition in a number of games where I've been number of pieces down. Indeed it's fun to sacrifice heavily to try and force a stalemate - mostly with bots of course! Maia at level one and two is particularly fond of making repeated checks that lead to repitition.

This statement is true only for people at your rating level. Between 500-1400, players are capable of managing to stalemate or draw, of even lose a completely winning position. At higher rating levels, when you're losing - you've pretty much lost. Your only hope is your opponents internet disconnecting.

Maybe they don’t resign because:

a) They could win on time.

b) They could draw through stalemate.

c) They are hoping their opponent will do something really stupid.

d) They are hoping their opponent will rage quit, or time out due to connectivity issues.

e) They want to gain experience in the end game, practise a specific tactic, or just learn.

Would you resign a game if you were 7 points down in a game. I managed to mate someone with that amount of points lost in the game.

I'm not sure that anything to be happy about !

It’s not about material difference, it’s material ratio. That is why people trade when they’re up material.
If it is 35-32 material, never resign. Maybe once it is 5-2 you could

Mate, he’s 1700, the chance of the opponent counterblundering is low. You’re 400-500, so the chance of a counter blunder is high
