Anyone else found they are getting loads of timouts when they move to LiveChess? It's kinda like chess.com is using a link from somewhere in the fifteenth century. S L O W.

13,050 players online in live chess right now. If even 50 of them were having a problem with their connections, this place would be flooded.  As it is, we usually see 1 or 2 a day...

17,405 players now in live...

If you guys are having problems as of late, why not try to figure out what you changed in your setup?

Mine started about two months ago and , last weekend, got impossible to even commence a game. I've been trying all sorts of approaches and Erik/Chess.com has been helpful. Still frustrating, though.

You just joined. What kind of computer? How recent? Is it updated? What type of internet connection do you use?

Does it freeze your whole computer? Or just the browser window?

Most of us have no problems. Several years ago, I had a problem with Flash ads causing problems with live chess. My solution included using ad blockers and disabling Flash.

Chess.com responded to similar complaints saying that it was the local companies serving ads where people live that were causing the actual problems. They asked to find out about such things so that they could stop them.

But you didn't give any details so we have no idea what would help you.

For what it's worth, M'soft did some sort of unrequested upgrade to my pc software a few months ago and then I could suddenly play again without timing out. Certainly looks like it wasn't a Chess.com problem.
