Pre-move

Lately I've noticed that the pre-move option doesn't function as it should, because it substracts some time even if you made your move beforehand. Sometimes, it does substract time for me, but not for my opponent, which is weird. For example, in this game, on the last move, I pre-moved Qxe8# when I had 0.3 seconds left, but I lost on time. What can I do about this?

I believe u still lose time from premove..

i think i lose .4 seconds every premove i make.. its to make things more fairer for the people that does not use premove.

u54321

its faster to hold the piece over the place where u want to move it

we're working to fix this in the next version

I believe as it stands premove does not cost you time over several moves, it is just not rushed about giving you your time back.  It usually does this at the start of your next move which if you're in a scramble you wont notice, and unfortunately it is sometimes too late because it has already flagged you on lag.  I have lost several games on time where I have had mate in 1 set as a premove.  I have also lost a few games where I have been very low on time making premoves every move for say 8 moves, and then all of a sudden maybe because the lag is slightly longer that move, the premove fails and I lose.  I dont think it is faster to hover the piece though as then you never get all your lag time back.  sometimes I have lost as much as half a second when I have instantly dropped a piece when my opponent makes the expected move, and my reactions are nowhere near that bad.

Sardine, in livechess if you want to use premove it's one of the settings on the settings tab above the chat window.  You check that box, and then you move during your opponent's turn and your move will be highlighted and will be made "instantly" regardless of what your opponent plays, so long as it's a legal move.  Careful with it though...
