Playing against idiots on live chess who don't resign when whole pieces down without compensation and go on until mate is frustrating me to no end. I reckon that I would be able to spend twice the time on interesting chess if people resigned when they had to.
May I suggest that you resign after you have the game won, so that you can go on to spend twice as much time on interesting chess? That is, unless ratings is more important to you than interesting chess.
Yes! I agree that when my opponents don't resign whenever I want them to, they should all be banned--as well as anyone who looks at me funny
We only look at you funny because we think it was you who farted.
No. That was me.
Just to add some new food to those interesting resignation threads :)
I just had an interesting conversation with a guy from Italy I just played. Since there's some negative feedback about disabling chat I'm currently trying to leave it on in longer games and say gg at least ... We played a 25 minutes game, and I got into a winning position after a tough fight (mate in 2 or so). He hadn't written a word during the entire game, but then he wrote something like "game over ... I think". I replied that he might click the resign button then and he replied "you took so much time to think, I'll wait 16 minutes". (He had played rather fast while I had taken my time, he had 16 minutes on the clock and I had 5 ... I think it's perfectly OK for me to make use of the full time in the time control we agreed to.). Still wondering that someone not only committed this well-known and frowned-upon practice, but even announced it in chat beforehand, I replied "just as you like". And guess what, seconds later I read "you're very polite ... thank you for the game ... I'll resign". What he did.
So maybe we should all try it with kindness, which seems to be contagious on your opponent :)
