Open a separate window and don't forget that inactivity during a game can lead to you losing even if you technically still have time left on the clock. 

Pretty sure opening another tab while playing a live game is considered abandonment and resignation.  If it were allowed, some of the bad guys might be tempted to use assistance.  

Why though would you want to?  You have a minimum of a day to make each move (and most folks play 3 day) and even if you were to run out of time, all premium members automatically go on vacation.  Is there any chance you're a bit confused as to how daily works?  It's not like you have one or three days in total to finish a game; you have one or 3 days for each move.  The rest of the world calls this correspondence chess by the way.  Hope that helps...
