I was mopping up a fairly lengthy 15/10 game and I get an message that says

"another log in has been detected"

My only option was to click ok.  So i did, and the game just cut out.

What is this?

Ok now it says he won on time.  But I had about 7 minutes left when the game just cut out.

cess.com states it means you might have other devices logged into the same chess.com. Bull! When I leave the app on my ipad, I shouldn't of course be logged in, nor my phone. So, that doesn't make sense. It could  be that if you play on line and play live, the computer attempts to log you in again to reply? Regardless...this is totally impossible to play this way.

Could you have been logged in both on your PC and on a hand-held device (iPad, Android, etc)?

And/or you might want to change your password

When you see 'Another Login is detected', it appears for one of two reasons.

1. You've tried to click on someones username and opened in a new tab, thus re-logging you into another live chess window.

2. You use an iDevice. (iphone or android)

What happens is that you can only be logged into live chess on one browser/app window - login at any one time. If you (for example) stayed logged in on the iDevice, then logged into live chess through a computer on a browser the iPad will keep trying to connect to live chess, therefore booting you off - and showing you the message 'another login is detected'.

If you're going to use the iPad to play, please make sure you are properly logged off anything else you use to play live chess from, like the web on a pc or an iPhone/android.

That's interesting Kohai because I've seen comments by players to the effect that they play more than one game of Live chess at the same time.

These are usually longer time control games such as 30 minutes but since it would involve having more than one browser tab/window open in Live at the same time, then it should be impossible.

Is that what you're saying ?

But this still doesn't explain (to me anyway) why the OP lost control of his game which was quite a way along by the sounds of it. Shouldn't any second attempt to access Live chess fail - why does it appear to foul up the first one ?

You don't need to open multiple browser tabs to play multiple Live games. You just accept the challenges and the tabs open within the Live Chess window you are in above the chat boxes.

I didn't know that Genghiskhant - thanks for that, I've never tried doing it myself.

Still doesn't explain why the OP lost their game though ?

Before the other login was detected, how long had it been since your last move had been made?

So is the recommendation to only use one tab? I like to explore other areas/openings and so on while one tab is analyzing a finished game. Then I might start another game. The warning appears about 20% of the time. Is this to avoid someone cheating?
