Why at first my rating was increasing rapidly i.e. around 100-150 in each win but eventually it decreased to 10-20
It's called the Glicko rating system (after a Math professor called Glicko). Your rating bounces around until the system is sure they're in the right range, and then the swings become smaller and smaller. I'll get the article for you...
