Yes, chess.com, please allow this "autocastling" to be disabled so that castling occurs only when the king has been moved by clicking on it, moving it, and releasing it on the destination square. I have lost many games due to unwanted (and disasterous) castling.
Remove King touching Rook for castling

Clearly chess.com isn't implementing touch rule, otherwise if you clicked on a piece you would no longer to click on any other pieces to move them. Even chess streamers aren't doing touch rule. It's not formal competition. So if touch rule isn't really implemented, this autocastling option should be given a pass too.

I agree it's one of the more annoying things when you castle by accident...
On the other hand I think it's generally not a good habit to click on the pieces and draw arrows so much.. OTB you can't do that... Same goes for solving a puzzle... better to not touch the mouse until you see the entire solution..
But if you do use these clicks, hovering, etc.. be sure to double click so you unselect pieces you decided to not move... so make yourself a habit of double clicking rather than clicking...
but yeah I feel you

I appreciate the response @PineappleBird -- I agree, like it's not the best habit to have if you're trying to properly improve OTB, but online chess is online chess... I'm just trying to play my moves 😫

idk i just thought about this subject of how much I personally am somewhat dependent on clicking (revealing legal moves squares, also x ray cuz the dots go x ray right?).. you knidof get "inspired" by the clicking and these dots.. I think that's not so great... also I struggle alot more to solve puzzles before move 1 is played cuz the green V's help, because of course puzzles being puzzles, you know you are winning, so most moves that "scream to be played" are just the right ones most times.. but ultimately your tactical vision is not really being developed..
I know it's off topic but lets face it - although your post is 100% right.. chess.com won't change nothing so might as well talk about the root of the problem .. I know i'm kindof being annoying but I mean well...

BRO HAVEN'T U HAD THE PAIN OF LOSING TO A CHECKMATE JUST BY MISCLICKING THE ROOK?????????? (Well if u don't thank goodness u will never need to experience it again)

Thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU chess.com

There's a notice when you play a chess game now that clicking on the king then the rook no longer automatically castles!!

Yes please remove this! I lost several games because of this.. or at least have a option to turn it off, I dont know why this is programmed in the first place! This is very frustrating :[]

Clicking the king and then the rook to castle is no longer possible on the website for standard chess. I believe it's coming to the apps as well
Can we please remove this? Or at least give an option to remove this as an option? Please? Please. It is literally the only move that catches so many players off guard when you're in the middle of deciding which piece to move. It isn't that uncommon of an error to make, there are other ways to allow the castling option -- for instance just touching the square that the king will eventually go to. Whether you're dragging pieces or clicking two squares, there is still a clear option on how you would like to castle even if we forgo this option to click the king and then the rook for castling. It is jarring to be able to drag all other pieces to other squares, then in the middle while you're considering on moving the king or moving the rook you suddenly find that your king and rook have gained sentience and decided to do their own little thing in the corner. If the argument is chess960 might be a problem, why can't we do something similar to underpromotion where you tap the king to go to the square and you choose if you want to castle or move your king? And again, if flexibility is an issue, can't we just put it as an option in the settings?
