server shutdowns advice

Im an IT expert working for a top bank...
When we shutdown servers for patching... we have a staggered approach, and clients are not affected. Im sure you also have more than 1 server. Heres what you could do to seemlessly patch and restart.

Lets say you have 2 servers (if you have more you could do it with and even/odd system)
When the time is approaching for a shutdown (1 hour before) .. you move all new seeks/games that just started... to "even" servers... then take down "odd servers" (just disable the network adapter) and patch / restart it.. test everything is OK.. when done... in an hour or so .. do the "even" servers in the same way.

Hope it useful.

Could it be possible at least to show the shutdown warning earlier?  In such short notice some people just spend their time when they realize they're losing in 30 minutes games.

Thanks in advance

15 or 20 minutes before shutdown there is a message.  Finish your games!  But the game just started.  So it was a draw because the game wasn't endend.  I think it is not so hard to make a message "in an hour".

Just my 2 cents,

I agree with the previous 2 posts. I just had two games aborted due to shutdowns. These were 10 minute games. I think the warnings could generally be posted a bit more in advance.

Unfortunately with a current tournament issue, its not always possible to give alot of time/warning for the server restarts :(

We hate the restarts as much as you do. We also hate the fact the fix didn't work on the first restart.  This is seriously no fun for anyone we understand that.

We ask you are patient and a little understanding while we're trying to fix the issues reported. We are trying Frown

[Edited to add .. we now have this fixed ]
