Standard Rating

Dear community,

I usually wonder why there is not a 4th type of live chess rating as classic or standard chess. I think and I'm pretty sure you agree with me that it's not the same type of games 10|0 game with a 60|30 game. They are completely different games so why rating should be put together? Even FIDE separate Standard from Rapid chess.

I think it would be a great improvement for players that play these types of games.

Please, comment your thoughts about it.

In this post I'm trying to see what users think about this issue. I hope my intentions were not misunderstood.

10|0 is blitz, not rapid.

I do agree that slow games are different but don't think that many people have played games here with a time control of at least 30 seconds or more per move.

You make a good point, although the example you give is wrong since 10/0 here is Blitz.  There are just so few players of standard chess here that I guess chess.com thinks it would be a waste of resources.  Most of the slow chess played here is done in a few clubs.  I've directed more than a few players frustrated by how near impossible it was to find an opponent in standard, to slow play clubs.

Sorry. You are right! 10' is blitz! My bad!

But there are people that do play standard games, usually beginner or intermediate players.

Yeah true. Though I must say the overwhelming majority of players on chess.com probably play blitz over any other time format. Standard games pass by so quickly OTB but so slowly in online chess for some reason. I guess people are used to online chess being fast.

I agree. I like playing 15|10 and 60|0 or 45|45. Completely different games.
