Standard rating bug?

This is on behalf of my son, an NM who uses this account to play and do tactics.  He is wondering why his standard rating was set to 1818 (now 1848 after an additional game) when it was 1979 after his previous live chess standard game just a couple of days ago?  A glitch in the system?  Can you fix it?  Thanks.

Its against site rules to share the same account.

I don't play on this account.  I'm a C-player, he's a master.  I post on his behalf because he's very young.

The rule only applies to playing on the same account, which I mentioned above we don't do.  My son would be very upset if my C-level chess dropped his chess.com ratings.  :)

At any rate, I see you're a moderator.  Can you help us with the standard rating glitch?  Why did it drop from 1979 to 1818 with no intervening standard game(s) and can you fix it?  Thanks.

As you can see, you get a lot of random posts not answering your question.

I suggest writing an email to support.

Advice noted and taken.

Looks like some adjustments have gone on. Mine has changed as well, they've set it to my FIDE rating. No idea when they did this, as I practially never play standard games, but my guess is it's something intentional as opposed to a bug.

Avatar of ChristopherYoo

Are you playing in the Pro Chess League?  I'm beginning to suspect this adjustment was made for that.  My son will be playing and our team coordinator told me recently that September FIDE ratings will be used.

Avatar of JamesColeman

Yes I am. It's likely something to do with the league, I agree.

LOL which means laugh out loud if you still use his account he is not a moderator and did not want to help he just wanted to annoy and troll you.

Hello!

ChessFlair here, and I'm glad to help.

When did this happen? There might be glitches after the server restarted, or did you leave some games on?

Check you account is safe from hackers. Sadly, that's all I can help with.

Good luck though!

Cheers ✌

He was when this was posted 5 years ago....

Bumping old topics, especially to add comments not really pertinent to the discussion, isn't a great idea meh

And the question was answered on post 10/11.
