Standard Ratings Boost

Erik, is it possible to have the rating adjusted slightly? Or is it an either/or proposition?

Erik,

I feel that the 500 point boost titled players got is distorting the ratings significantly at higher levels. Like 2100 rated FMs now becoming 2600, and so on.

I would like to suggest that the 1800+ have an adjustment of 300 (instead of 400) and titled players maybe 350 instead of 500 and I think this would bring the ratings much closer to ELO.

Do not fix something that is not broken! I do not understand the rationale behind changing a rating system we were used to. This is not a " feel good" game!

So this is supposed to make our online standard ratings more accurate to real life ratings?

Avatar of VelvetGlove

For years I was 1500-1630 then it has dropped to 1300-1400. I thought it was just because I was getting older !!

Avatar of vmsfinale

i dont think this increase is unjustified.

my tactics rating     was 150-200 points higher than the standard rating

assume it's wrong then playing with other players (or computers )  would bring the ratings down      for those who "din't deserve" it....

If only playing strength would improve commensurately...

For anyone who has an official FIDE rating. Is the new boosted rating more accurate to your official rating? What is the consensus? Thanks.

my rating hasnt moved up ??Please be relevant, helpful & nice!

After the change, my live standard rating is closer to my USCF, but it is now 22 higher than my peak USCF. My current USCF is over 100 below my peak, so my chess.com live standard is much higher. It was much lower before The Adjustment.

Chess.com was right to adjust the ratings, but they went overboard on the top end. The #1 rated player on the site, actually has a LOSING record! That's an impossible situation!

I have had no rating boost. :(

Are you sure you're doing the rating system correctly? It should be 16pts for a win plus or minus 1 point for every 25 point rating difference of your opponent. I think you guys were doing half of that which explains why the ratings were too low.

Avatar of Zeyrion

I don't feel like a 1,700 rated player. :/

Avatar of Benzodiazepine

Didn't get a single point (IMHO).

Actually, my rating went up by 144, not 150...

No, it went 836->986

I never got a ratings boos...

Avatar of HariSeldon

@Jion Yes, you had a rating boost from 937 to 1087. After that, you lost 14 points at your first defeat against a computer....
