Wasting Time......

I actually once had four online games (correspondance chess) where I had one move away from checkmate no matter what they did, and none of them moved, I was so excited, and then had to wait a couple days to claim my victories, very annoying.

Anthony, I don't mind explaining things when they need to be explained.  But if everytime anything you say that someone disputes you require them to take you through it with baby steps so that you understand...all too tedious.  I also don't believe (well I don't want to) that you are that stupid.

What I pointed out was painfully obvious, and in short time I believe you saw that too, so why should I go through the hassle of explaining it to you?  Is it to try and save face by hoping there is some sort of error you can jump on in my explantation?

I meant to write something like this. If he doesn't believe that there are literally thousands of types of people who would let their time run out, and thousands of different possible motives for doing so then that's his own problem.

CPawn: I'm just trying to cut down on people who let their clock run. It annoys me and i know it annoys others as well. You might not agree but I would rather post about it and hopefully gather momentum for maybe a change instead of letting jerks be jerks...

So the parent whos baby starts crying and steps away from a game is a jerk?

The guy that got a call from work regarding some emergency is a jerk?

The woman whos child just called to tell her that shes getting married is a jerk?

Rather harsh to just assume, and make outlandish generalizations that everyone that lets there clock run out is a jerk.  There are many like myself that get calls from work while playing.  And while i do make an attempt to let my oopponent know, its not always possible.

What i dont understand is what is so critical that is going on in life that those last 30 seconds...1..2..3..minutes or longer that you and other complain about is causing you and other so much grief?

Please dont take this as an attack because im not and i apologize if it comes across that way, but i see so many posts where people are so upset that they are forced to wait for a time out.

Do what i do...pick up a book and read and wait.  Life is to short to be so impatient.

dunce

Start another game (if you really can't wait to scratch your chess itch). Keep the other window open so you can see if the player comes back. Worst case, your playing two simultaneous games for a few minutes.

Some people can't bear defeat so they do this to take revenge.

Ever play a chess game online and your one move away from checkmate and you wait for your opponent to make that last move but he seems to just sit there and is unresponsive. So you just wait and try to tell him to move but he/she just isn't listening and to make it worse he has 10mins on the clock left.... I am usually a slow thinker so i usually play 20 min games and i respect people taking there time to think of a move but when your one move to mate i find it irratating for my opponent just to waste time and what makes it worse is that I have a poor internet connection so I sometimes get disconnected and lose the game :(
I think chess.com should have a 5min limit per move so that way people don't get their time wasted...as much...

You simply play till the end, waiting for whatever your opponent does, and than you block him/her and report it to chess.com for unsportsmanlike behavior.

Then you turn page.
