From what I've read, ChessBase is the most popular commercial GUI / interface, of the commercial interfaces.
I have ChessBase, and Fritz, and a few others... and yet I still prefer Scid vs. PC among all GUIs, commercial or not.
You say you want to purchase a commercial database, and that's fine and there is nothing wrong with that. But I don't understand your reason. Scid vs. PC can handle databases with millions and millons of games.
I've been using Scid vs PC for over 2 years and have been very happy with it. But I'm thinking of buying a commercial program to house my increasing database of games and openings.
I'd be interested to know what programs the Masters use in their day-to-day work. How do you organise your games, openings, and databases? Which programs do you use and why?
Thanks in advance.
