Live Chess in Ohio — Two Big October Events!

If you’re in or near Ohio and want to take your chess beyond the screen, come join us at Chess Bus events this October! We’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit bringing free and fun chess to local communities — from casual meetups and pop-up tournaments to family-friendly chess days at parks, malls, and other venues.

🏆 National Chess Day at Sterkel Park — Rated Blitz

Saturday, October 11 — Mansfield, Ohio

• 9:30 AM: USCF Rated Blitz Tournament

• 12:00 PM: Open “Arena” style event — all welcome!

Celebrate National Chess Day with fast-paced rated blitz action in the morning, then join our open casual Arena event at noon. Bring your own set and clock if you can.

Saturday, October 18 — Ontario, Ohio

• 12:00 PM: Chess Tournament Quads — 4-player mini events grouped by skill

  • Entry Fee: $25 per player (3 games, 30 minutes each side)

  • Prizes: $80 first prize per quad

  • Rated and Unrated sections

• Bonus: Raffle for a premium House of Staunton chess set
