I could say the same when you failed to promote a pawn to a lesser piece.
A serious question. Must I do en passent or can i chose to ignore it? I have not checked the chess rules about this. Anyone know for a fact?

En passant is not a forced move (unless that is the only legal option available). As such, we can ignore the en passant move if we prefer. Note, however, that this right to perform en passant is lost once we make a different move (i.e. we will not be able to perform the same en passant move again, even a turn later).

I'm wondering, en passant describes the situation while pawn quickly enters the battle due to going at two positions immediately. Unfortunately, it becomes vulnerable, according to the rules, to opponent's pawn. In case the pawn starts from 2nd horisontal forpost, it previosely steps on the next quad and the last simultaniosely! Another pawn can destroy the former as well as it is surrounded on 3rd, not 4th horisontal. In the conclusion, pawns goes only one quad by one as a king. No one quit without a battle, thanks!
