So last week there was tournament at my city, i decided to participate. So everything was going smoothly until i wanted to make a second queen. On the normal rules if there are not any spare queens u can turn ur rook uspide down, or pause the clock and ask a judge. The thing is i didnt want to flip rook but i didnt want to stop the timer becuase didnt know how! judge was close so i started shouting like an idiot "HEY JUDGE, JUDGE!!" while my timer was running. So he came and i explained it btw with my clock being on minute on 1:20min. He was also in panic and hurry so he just said that i can flip the rook.I endedup winning with 18seconds on my clock. At the end that dosent matter i just wanna know two things:

1) How do you stop chess timer?(Maybe a video explanination)

2) Do you think i should have done somenthing else?

1) If you're talking about an electronic clock, the pause button is usually in the middle of the clock. But some clocks are different so if you're ever unfamiliar with how a clock works, you should ask how to use it before the round starts.

2) I think that you did the right thing by not turning the rook upside down. Depending on the tournament rules, it may not be allowed. There was once a controversial game between GM Bator Sambuev and IM Nikolay Noritsyn where Noritsyn promoted to a queen by flipping the rook but was told that the piece counts as a rook and not a queen. https://www.chess.com/news/view/controversial-finish-to-canadian-chess-championship-5047

You would think the Arbiter also would have stopped the clock while you spoke to him 👀🙄
