How is that mate? THe white king's in the way.

To zectec:

no he's not. you can play the variation yourself. there are no stalemates. If you don;t think so, please post out the variations...

woops lol I knew I had to be missing something

SilentWalker

To be able to find that in an actual game would take some serious calculation.

wubowen100

I really doubt it will actually happen in a real game

Daedalus

Very fun, love the way white did that!

Its great. These are the puzzles that really get your brain thinking, not those cheap easy daily puzzles.

This is a REALLY fun puzzle

Nice puzzle! I'm happy to say I got it, however I'm not sure if I would have figured it out without the hint that there were 3 underpromotions.

As for chessmaster not being able to solve it, Glaurung 2.2 immediately detected the solution, and after a minute declared it mate in 31 (highest mate number I've seen on it through my use :D)

peperoniebabie

Fantastically creative puzzle, sir. Three underpromotions and four sacrifices!

chessturtle_inactive

i only did not find the last move

wubowen100

well the last move is pretty straightfoward...

hope you enjoy the pzuule though.

hecuregon

there is another one (I saw in you tube) that for the same reason promotion of a queen wasnt possible, it must be a knight and a rook

nicy

Its great

How did Black's King get all the way in that corner and trap himself without taking out some pawns along the way?

And why would he jump in front of his a-pawn rather than promote it?

But those questions aside, it is a fun puzzle. I just wish it was from a real game :)
