I think there may be a variety of reasons why a player might reasonable decline a rematch..

Speaking for myself if I lost a tough game or one that I got mated too easily, I am even more determined to win the rematch and most of eften play better and win. I know you're implying cheating but maybe think people actually try harder or some new approach to win.

Cheating never entered my mind, I wasn't implying anything of the sort.

Okay then what did you mean by saying you noticed people play much better in the rematch?

Rematches should be there to test out fair strength and who actually is the better player or in the better form, because many of the times its just luck, of the another player especially in blitz or rapid which are the most played time controls online.

Rematches is a good sportsmanship but if you dont rematch thats understandable too. Chess can be stressful and sometimes you dont want to play after one game.

If there was a setting to match players who are open for rematch would solve this, is there one.

There a whole bunch of filters that would allow people to personalise their seeks to get games more in line with their personal preferences, such as:

  • Minimum membership level
  • Minimum age of account
  • Minimum number of games played

Chess.com has never shown any interest in implementing any of them, presumably because the risk of messing around with the game seek code is too great and that people would then start complaining about how long it takes them to find a game, and they'd rather spend their resources doing things that might attract people to the existing platform. They scored a major win with Puzzle Rush that way and are probably trying to find another.

BTW I was quite enjoying the Kingdom chess iPhone app and then it stopped working completely a few months ago, so I deleted it.
