Yep. 

After Qg5, instead of Nf3 White has Bg2 or d3 or even Nh3, and he's fine.

Agreed, and I don't think many people would play 4.g3 as white; that's not very strong. 4.Nf3 is the mainline and much better.

Qg5 is hope chess. Just because White played g3 doesn't mean they're going to fall for this. h5 is the best way to exploit White's bad g3 move.
