Forced mate in 11, who'd have guessed. 2...Qe1+! Of course! Bah. Thanks for spoilering! [/sarcasm]
In all honesty, this is a fun position to look at. The mating attack is quite engrossing, but easy to miss as a human. The puzzle is cooked, but quite frankly OTB I'd take the win via 1...Qxg2+ if I didn't see that hard-to-spot 3...Bd6.
But can you find a good line against 4...Rf8?
No, but white can play 2.Rg5
2.Rg5? Qe1+ 3.Kh2 BxQ+ is ballgame.
Okay, then how about 4. g3?
4...Qg3+ and 5...BxR instead.
And black does not get more than a whole rook
Wrong - white's K is still in grave danger.
To be very nitpicky, actually 4...Qxh4+ 5. Kg1 Qe1+ 6. Kh2 and then 6...Qg3+ and 7...Bxe5 picks up an extra pawn. And the attack continues with Q+R+B v poor K+Q.
But it's not as bad for black as 1random's line in post #23
That line seems no better for black then winning a rook and losing a piece, he wins the exchange rather than a whole rook.
To be very clear, 1random/Houdini's line is the absolute best.
And you're reading something wrong. I said 6...Qe1+ 7. Kh2 Qg3+ then BxR, not 6...BxR. Like so.

I was imitating BigDoggProblem's line
Well, you didn't get the moves right.
Well then this:
@GSHAPIROY This is getting silly. White is completely busted at the end of your line.
First of all, why not 10. ... Qxf3 in your line? The g-pawn is still pinned so cannot recapture the queen.
Second, why did you title it 1/2 - 1/2?

You're right - that's even better for Black.
Yes it certainly is
