OK I see it. 1. h7 (any) 2. Kf7#.

You almost got it. 2.Nf7#.

really funny/wacky puzzle. (1st move has two possible answers but the puzzle can only contain one. )

Richard, is this one also from a real game? Is that why you have White drawing an easily won position?

Yes. This is easily won by White.

Yes. That was a typo. Thanks. I fixed the puzzle. Does that one look okay now?

Here it is, fixed; now it's White to mate in 6.

Yes, there's a mate in 6 now, but not your way. How does your solution continue after 2...Kf8?

Black can't play Kf8 on move 2 and move 3.

That "puzzle" has absolutely no practical value. It's just a waste of time.

true. that is something that i just came up with and forgot to think if it is useful. this one will probably be a little more useful

Ra6+. it's not a mate in two

And precisely the same error as in the previous one. The most important tactical law in chess is (for both games and puzzles): Always check different move orders!

1. h7+ Kh8 (or Kf8 h8Q#) 2. f7 and mate on the next move. Do not even need the bishop!

That's not what the mpve sequence I show does. Follow the hints to see the  puzzle solution. I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing.

I'm trying to show you why you don't have a forced mate in 6 after 1.Nf7+. After 1.Nf7+ Kg8 2.h6 Kf8, how will White continue? Don't tell me Black will play 3...Kf8, because the Black king is already on f8.

1. Nf7+ Kg8 2. h6 Kf8 3.h7 Ke8 4. h8=Q+ Kd7 5. Qd8#

Black tries to hold out as long as possible, not to help White.

1.Nf7+ Kg8 2.h6 Kf8 3.h7 Ke7 4.h8=Q Nb7.

How does White continue?

3,..Ke7 is not possible because of the White king on f6.

Look at your diagram again (#97). The white king is on g6.

Richard, you keep making the same mistake over and over. White is supposed to choose the best moves, not help Black get out of trouble.
