Fleeing Mate

Here's a different kind of puzzle.

The game starts 1.e3 ... and you play black. The white player may ONLY move his king.

How many moves will it take to mate the enemy king?

lukeyboy_xx

dont have a clue!

planauts

i know. what are you talking about? :S

Does "he will only move his king" include if he has to move something else(e.g. no escape square, must block).

Finnigan

Yes, the rules are simple. The white player may only move his king no matter what. You cannot block, because that would require moving NOT your king. The first move, however, is 1. e3 (because you can't move the king as it is trapped behind your pawn wall).

You, playing black, must determine the surefire fastest way to checkmate the fleeing king.

uritbon

there are multiple mates in five.

Keissi

There is no more possible moves for white king so i think 5 moves is right answer for this question. This wouldn´t be a mate if white were able to move other pieces, too...
