Seven times White's bishop vacating e4 to mate with the rook either crosses or blocks a critical square required by another White piece that could mate in response to a Black defense. The idea has, of course, been familiar since about the 1950s, when German composers (notably WOLKMANN and AHUES) made a special study of the subject, but this is probably the first example of seven critical tests by a bishop. The construction is well done, only the Th6 has been little used, for being such a strong piece.
