I agree with 1. Qe2+ as well.  I'm assuming the a-file is not part of the board.

It is a nice diagram, but your original picture didn't show all 64 squares.  I think most people will assume that the squares not shown are not used and the pieces create the border around the board.  If we are playing with a full board, then we wouldn't know for sure if there was a white queen on a1 or a8 because we can't see those squares.  We can assume that those squares are not occupied, but that is another assumption about the diagram.  Wink

 Chess players refer to lines and rows as ranks and files. Wink
