No, black did not get greedy. Those two captures were the only two legal moves.

Thank for nice comments, this one is easier, I think, but I like the symmetrical solution. Mate in 4.
the second puzzle doesn't work because the king has an escape route, with 2...Kc3, attacking the bishop

That's true. You should edit the puzzle so that before that move you move a bishop along it's diagonal to lose the move and force zugzwang. [but then the puzzle wouldn't look quite as cool =( ]. Otherwise it's an awesome looking puzzle. In fact I knew there had to be some sort of mistake because it was too good to be true

Excuse me, guys, click solution, then the move list button. the Kc3 line is in there, it still works....
