The world of chess puzzles is such an interesting place, Vincent, but it is not chess, it is only an exercise using the rules of chess.
Material equality, or even realism, are not required for a good puzzle. Maybe you just have to be a puzzle fan to understand.....
Sure, here White has many ways of winning easily, but only one way of mating in 2 moves.
What's the point? you may ask. Well, it's a form of self expression. All the better if the solution is witty, unusual, bizarre. I had a quick look at this, and it seems Black has 3 possible replies to Re2. Each of those lead to a completely different mate. 1 ... Kb5 2 Rc2#, 1 ... Ke5 Bg2# and 1 ... d5 2 Re6#. I think it's very clever.
This is just one of those crazy mate-in-two positions I think is pretty amazing, though of course the solution may be obvious to a more experienced player. Please tell me what you think:
