Mate in 2
There is a difference. If the black knight took the bishop, then white is behind by a bishop! In the 2nd puzzle, white is threatning mate 2 ways.

1...f6? 2.Bxg8 maintains equality. 1...Rf6? 2.Qc3 maintains equality. 1...d5! wins material. In any case, there's no forced mate, but at least in the second puzzle we don't have to wonder what happened to Black's light-square bishop.
Here, I'll edit this puzzle.
But black was foolish, and wouldn't think about not taking the queen.
