Carl Walbrodt (1871-1902) was a strong German master who liked gambits and tactical positions.  He died at age 31 of tuberculosis.  In this position, Carl had already sacrificed two pieces, but found the mating combination.  The enemy king had nowhere to hide.  The opening was a King's Gambit Declined.

the king's gambit has produced an unfair amount of puzzles and great games :)
