puzzles have gotten harder

In the last week, it's giving me the occasional puzzle rated 1000 points below my puzzle rating that is however quite difficult, and if I get it wrong I lose 20 points or more. On the one hand, I do think it would make sense to deflate our puzzle ratings (it's sort of ridiculous for a 1200 player like me to go around with a 2600 rating on puzzles). On the other hand, there's something to be said for maintaining stable yardsticks.

There's been a change in how puzzles are rated on the backend which is different than what shows in the interface. There should be an update coming soon that will show the new ratings instead.

Thanks. Are you part of chess.com's engineering team?

Glad to know that I am not the only one experiencing this. So frustrating!

The formula for puzzle rating should be easy and based on how other players perform. The current format is ridiculous.

No. I'm just a moderator but have communicated with staff regarding the changes.

Just created my account and haven't played any rated games yet. When I started doing puzzles, the second one I got was rated 3000! I thought puzzles were supposed to start at a lower rating and gradually increase as you solve them. Is it normal to get such a high-rated puzzle so early on?

Yet another day of misrated puzzles.

I'm done with chess.com.
