Queens problem

you can take out the kings, you place em in the place where the queen i supposed to go, then you place the queens OVER them.
you cannot place a king in check, but you can put a king in check ONLY WHEN YOU CREATE/TAKE IN A NEW PIECE from the "piece window" place. So at the start place your kings in one of the queen positions. Then you do all your queens... you can do whatever you want, the kings won't stop you putting your queens on. When you put your queen OVER the king, you cannot take them off or move ANY PIECE. however, you can put on more pieces. So when you've done one king, you can do the other without a problem. So thats both kings off the board. You cannot edit them now, move any piece.

when the king is in check (not a piece over it), you have to remove it from check to do any "legal move editting". So if your king is in (can be more than one, say double check from 2 queens) check, you need to move/take out all those pieces that are checking it before you can edit freely; well as you started out as (normal rules still apply obviously, not COMPLETELY freely)

btw ive got a shortcut, on the "fen", on diagram appropriately but it works on others too, just make all the pieces a blank "8". so you get an empty board. then place everything on =).
remember though, because the kings are off, you can't move any pieces... So you gotta have em dead on all the time =D though it doesn't actually take long if you get it wrong to reset (just copy and paste this "8/8/8/8/8/8/8/8 w KQkq - 0 1").

gotta go, bye =P be glad some1 posted on your lone post. Thanks RyanMK for your 5 queens, it was most useful.

Two corrections:
On the 4 queen problem, 62 is not the highest number of squares attacked.
On the 3 queen problem, 54 is not the highest number of squares attacked.
Anyone in the community able to beat these scores?
Post away, the problem still has not been solved.

I will check back in a couple hours. Keep posting until you find the solution. I will post the answer if nobody in the community can solve it by that time.
Okay, this is how the puzzle works.
Rules
Your objective is to set up a predetermined number of queens in a position where they attack every square on the board.
Unfortunately I cannot remove the kings
. Ignore the kings and the puzzle still works.
I will start the puzzle at 8 queens, then 7 queens. When that is solved, then 6 queens. Soon you will reach a point where you cannot attack every square on the board. How many squares do they attack?
Now 8 queens, next person to post will do 7 queens.
