I’m unsure about this one. I have a 44.5 move game, is it shortest?

Here's one of many SPGs for second position. First position takes a little longer to check because it was posted as a white-to-play position with Black in check.

If it is, it's dualed.

Unique SPG in 23.5 for first position.
Bringing the thread back on topic?! 😉
This seems hard. It looks like five of Black's six captures were by the a7 pawn on dark squares, but the pawn didn't capture either of White's bishops, since one was the wrong color and the other was captured at home. That leaves only four white units for the pawn to capture. What am I missing?

You could be right...I did a wee something to lower the difficulty.

Lower the difficulty? Or did you mean eliminate the impossibility?

Here's a first try. How much shorter can it be?

Yes, it's a non-unique SPG, according to Stelvio 2.0 after 7:20:47 hours.

At least the first position works. I don’t know if moving the bishop on b5 to a4 resolves the cook in the second position. Although Rh8-a8-a1-e1 is still possible, I think there will be a lot of interferences between the black pieces.
i am just here for fun i focus more on real chess
Still, you have great talent for these long proof games. They are not easy to make, yet you still make a proof game longer than 40 moves! That’s a very impressive achievement.
Also, you’re not too far off the longest PG. If you continue with extending this proof game, you might get even closer to the record, or possibly exceed it.
unique or not
