Here is a longer shortest proof game of 185 moves.

Shortest-proof-game challenge

I believe the author at his word that this is shortest indeed.
I also believe the author's expert opinion that this is probably not the longest.

I agree that this is probably not the longest SPG. In fact, I would say that no matter how long an SPG can be found, it will never be possible to prove that there can't be a longer one.

Now that tygxc has found a 185-move shortest proof game, I can give up on trying to post the longest SPG in this thread. Instead I will try to find positions with long proof games, say longer than 50 moves, which solvers will enjoy working on. I think the position below qualifies. A proof game for johntromp's position above will probably also be a long one.
How short a proof game can you find for this legal position:

What is the shortest proof game for this gem by Dimitrij Baibikov?
There was a 57 move proof game already at https://www.chess.com/forum/view/fun-with-chess/illegal-position-contest?page=282#comment-63063181 but there seems to be room for improvement...

Here is an unshortened proof game for #1048, showing that it's legal and ready for our chief shortener, tygxc, to do his thing.

I had fun coming up with a 75.5 move proof game for this position. How much shorter can you make it?

I give up
With about a half-hour's work I shortened #1050 from 56.5 to 54.5 moves. Why don't you see if you can shorten it another move or two.

Shorter
I would be interested in knowing how short a proof game johntromp has for this position from his home page.

Shorter, but probably not shortest
Still long, but maybe not longest
I believe it's currently the longest SPG posted here, and second longest is this one which tygxc shortened to 85 moves. https://www.chess.com/forum/view/more-puzzles/shortest-proof-game-challenge?page=51#comment-62982253
